AMS Ekman Dredge, Model 196

Description

The AMS Ekman Dredge, Model 196 Sampler is used to scoop up samples of soft mud, silt and sand from the bottom of lakes, ponds, impoundments, etc. The unit is Stainless steel and has trap doors that are slammed shut by spring action. The sample doors are opened and latched to remain open. The sampler is lowered in the sampling location. Once the sampler has hit the bottom, a pipe is allowed to slide down the retrival rope. The weight of the pipe triggers the latching mechanism and the sample doors close. The dredge is now retrieved with the sample.
